Questions
- Is this legal advice?
- No. Veilleur observes a website and reports what it sees, with the evidence. Whether a finding is an offence depends on facts a robot does not know. What Veilleur gives you is the list of what an inspector would find, before they do.
- What happens if someone complains to the OQLF?
- The OQLF opens a file, writes to you with what it found and gives you a deadline to fix it. A fine only comes if nothing is corrected, or on a repeat offence. Veilleur is there so you learn it from a report rather than a letter, and so you have dated proof you were watching if the letter comes anyway.
- What does Veilleur do to my server?
- It identifies itself as VeilleurBot, respects your robots.txt, waits half a second between pages and stops at its budget. Twenty pages on the free tier is less than a curious visitor.
- Are prices in Canadian dollars?
- Yes, plus taxes. Invoices are issued in French, which, for this product, is not a detail.
- Can I cancel?
- Whenever you want, from the link in any email. The current month is the last one billed.
